Hey guys...are there any parts from EF, ED, EB EA (xr's and v8's) that would fit on an EL I6 and actually improve performance? Would an EB/ED (woteva) XR6 cam make a differnce? are there bigger air intakes on the v8's?
I'm askin bcoz i can get this from a wreckers....
Thanks
DM
if u want to start mucking around changing xr parts to a standard, then yep the cam will definitely make a difference but then u have to change all goodies associated with it ie:pressure reg, injectors? ecu etc

Yeah...the only v8 part i was thinking of was the intake snorkel...sorry i didn't make that clear b4.
What do you (spaniard) mean when u say "the gears would have a bit of a field day keeping up? Could you please explain the whole cam thing requiring diff injectors pressure reg etc too plz...coz the xr6 setup isn't that different to the standard engine (cept cam and compression etc) is it?
Thanks
the main differences that i have found and know of for sure(no one in the know is willing to cough up the info i want) is that they run a different ecu, cam, injectors, compression, and fuel pressure reg.
the fuel pressure runs at 300 Kpa whereas a normal I6 runs at 250Kpa. if u use the standard ecu with a xr6 pressure reg it will think the pressure is of standard and inject fuel accordingly which causes all kinds of problems such as flooding when cold, heaps of black smoke on accel and shithouse fuel economy. i dont know the exact figures but the xr6 injectors are also very slightly higher flowing. compression and cam speak for themselves.
