EL ghia headers, exhaust upgrade

hello all.... recently bought a 96 el fairmont ghia... just took it back to the dealership because it had a leaking radiator and hole in the exhaust... when i get it back i have been qouted from profix in adelaide... to do a full brake upgrade using benedix pads and full machinig on all disks for $380 is that good price? also pacemaker headers... mild extractors and full s/steel custon 2 1/2 in exhaust system... if i get all that done with the brakes the whole lot will cost $1400 ( brakes inclusive)... is that good pricing? also has profix got a good rep to anyones knowledge....?
thanks

Re: EL ghia headers, exhaust upgrade

If you get headers fitted, make sure the primaries are the small ones, such as the 38mm (i think) for the Pacemakers, or get Wilcats or similar. Also have the zorst fitted with a 2" pipe from the muffler back. If not, and you decide to use the 41mm style primaries, have a restrictor fitted inside the cat.
The reason for all this is that if you don't do this, and simply fit a 21/2" all thro', you will lose all your lowdown torque and "driveability". It will be great from about 2500 onwards, but who drives around at those revs all the time?

Re: EL ghia headers, exhaust upgrade

I'd probly go for 41mm primaries on the headers, and keep the standard zorst size, but with a good muffler (check AutoSpeed - The World's Best High Performance Online Magazine and put in "mufflers" in the search) Ford actualy got the exhaust size right on the EF/EL's, and making it bigger actualy does more harm than good as far as driveability is concerned
