el ignition problem

every now and again but never from cold when i turn the key it winds and winds and winds but wont kick.i then release the key and start again and it kicks straight away but idles up ruff,also it smells fumey when it does this so fuel isnt the problem.ive had it to 2 different mechanics and have had injecters replaced,new coil and dizzy cap and new battery leads,as well as everything checked,wot else could it be.

Have you checked your fuel reg..
Mine had the same symptoms especially in winter.
Find it funny but if I gave the Reg a tap before i fired it over, It started First Time.
might be condensation on the vacuum side of the diaphram.

put your hand straight over your throttle body and see if the car stalls, if it does then its not what im thinking, if it doesnt stall but runs like shit then u might have a leak somewhere near ur inlet manifold... sucking in extra air causing car to run lean, therefor not getting enough fuel to start straight away... happened to me in my EF.

my cousin who is a mechanic said that usually with the hot start prob, its caused by a leak in the fuel pump. He say the return fuel line emptys of fuel, so basically when you go to crank it, the lines have to refill with petrol first before that is any fuel pressure?
