I have an EL GLi which shuts off after you let of the acclerator. The engines has plenty of grunt its just that the car will suddenly switch off as you release the acclerator. Would anyone know why this happens? Also the instrument cluster lighting has died and the little lcd display has shut off, the econo light is dead and the little globe saying your light are on after igniton is also dead.

Somebody please help me out here. I can barely get to work with start the car 12 times!!!

Well i have a problem with the economy light on my ef thats died so if anyone knows bout that. Sorry but i cant help

Have you checked the fuses to make sure none are blown?

Taking a guess.. but the engine stall may be due to the ICS not operating correctly. How does it idle in gear? I've seen cases over the years of a weak mixture and oil surge in the auto placing extra load on the torque converter and stalling mid corner when breaking hard and throwing the car around.

Perhaps the more up to date guys on here can shed some more light on the subject for you.

Need more details. Does it idle, or is it only when you let your foot off?
What does the shutoff sound like? An electrical shutoff, or more like a stall?
Does it do it in and out of gear?

An electrical shut off not a mechincial shut. The car idles nicely in gear and in park. The Econ Blub doesn't work even though i just changed it right now? Does anybody know how to reset the ECU?

Take the battery off overnight to reset ECU.
Umm it's wierd huh? Check the earth leads between the battery/motor and gearbox/floorpan. Often strange electrical gremlins can be traced to a poor earth somewhere....
Last time the auto fluid was changed?

To reset ECu all u have to do is take the battery out, turn the ignition to on and put your foot on the brake. This completely drains the electrical system of charge and saves having your battery out overnight.
As for the stalling...my nans car decided to stall when it went round corners with accel. off. few days later the fuel pump failed. go tthat fixed and it worked perfectly...maybe its the same for ur car. (hers is EB2)

sounds like u got a wiring fault check ur fuses
do u have a imobaliser if so look there first cos they always stuff up
