hey all
i have got a el fairmont 4l with genie extractors and xr exhaust system, lowered and 17inch wheels. i want to no does anyone no what the increase in power would be witrh the extractors kw wise. also im looking at converting to a manual. does anyone no who sells kits for them? also who installs cams and chips for them?or even a turbo kits that is relaible and doesnt break.

Not to sure on what increase of power you'd get from extractors.. I can imagine you'd gain a little more torque up high..
If your looking to convert your car to a manuel, best bet would be to ring around the local wreckers and see if they have a T5 laying around. You will also need the peddal box and possibly manuel computer aswell.
As for cams WADE make a cam to suite the 4.0L and I have heard nothing bad about the power gains from that or any bad news, There like $120 but you trade your cam in on it. Jim Mock Motorsports have developed alot of good kits for the 4.0L anything from extractors and exhaust to major headwork and cam, but once again your gonna be looking at big bucks. Capa make Turbo kits but yet again.. Big bucks. Im sure there are alot of other options for you out there though. What do you want your car to go like, big power = **** all realiablity, and alot of money.. ?
I'd just do..unless you have the money of course..stage 2 wade cam, shiftkit your auto gearbox, diff ratio, airfilter, xr8 intake, and posibly a T04 rb turbo :D goodluck

Seriously, as he said a wrecker or wrecked car auction will be your best bet. I get $1500 installed for a s/h EA-ED box, imagine you'll pay a lot more for EL as they're relatively rare. At the auction you will be fighting those wreckers for a manual EL.

I got a qoute of $1100 for a full conversion kit on my EF2 ghia. Then Herrod said they'll put it in for $600. Im selling the car soon anyway because i cant be bothered with the hassels. There is no garuntee on the qaulity of parts from a wrecker either.

is that 1100 with the parts and gearbox supplied and fitted? I am thinking about putting one in mine.. :D

All parts required to fit a manual conversion, straight out of a manual falcon. Clutch kit, flywheel, gear box, bell housing, pedal box etc etc for $1100. Then $600 for Herrods to chuck it in.

Make sure either you trust the wrecker, or you drive the box first! :) Or he does a written guarantee. Usually though, most wreckers will do the right thing if they want to see your buisness again.

I went to another wreckers today and they qouted me $900 on the kit. Sounds reasonable.
