hi all

im doing a turbo set up on my EL Fairmont Ghia tickford 6 what i was thinking of doing is taking 20thou off the head and use a AU headgasket would this be ok to do. next is to get a turbo cam does anyone know what the best cam is to use?
What is needed to be done to the fuel system can it be left stock?

All i want is around the 5psi mark i dont what anything crazy yet. And i was thinking of using a TD04B off a WRX will this be a ok turbo to use?

That will raise compression which is bad.
The turbo is way too small unless you use 2 then they might work. Do a search though there is heaps of info around.

Id take as little off the head as you can, and use a nice thick head gasket.

its an ED but there pretty similar anyway

fuel system will need:
bigger pump
at least 30Lp injectors (comp. will need retuning)

also if your goin twin turbo remember that costs can be a bit more than a big single

whatever u do, make sure u do a LOT of research and find out exactly what u need if ur doin this yourself or otherwise there will be problems, i dont wanna deter u from doin this but there a lot things that need to be considered.

cam- stock ones work well, although u could get WADE to grind one up

yeh try to take as little off the head as possible, a AU head gasket would work well. whats the comp. rario of the tickford, is it more than the stock falcon?
even still using "only" 5psi should be ok. just make sure its tuned well, which is the make or break (literally

) with most turbo cars

i would only take as much of as you have to to clean it up, and make sure all sharp edges are removed to reduce deteonation. We used a turbo of similar size on a 250 cross flow for burn out comps, it was a crude set up, using stock exhaust manifold and blow through 500 holley... It spooled up from free reving, it was had monster torque, but was slow as, and would only rev to 4000, but it woul pull top with 3.7's. Def not big enuf for a street driven car, even 2 would still be to small

Does anyone have an opinion on the head shims that ACL sell? I have a feeling I may have to use something similar with my EA engine, the block has been decked and the head has been shaved. The compression before the head was shaved was 9.6:1. WAY too high. The piston bowls were then modified as well as the cyl head chambers, which brought it back down to 8.7ish:1. I'd really like it a little lower, i.e 8.4/8.5:1. What thickness shim would be the go?

the shims come in a few thicknesss , im running one in my na 250 and comp is still 11.5, im running to head geakets one each side, this droped it from 15:1, so 4 compression points, it had 30 cc chambers in the head due to it beeing decked heaps,
i havnt used one on a 4.0 but it will certnly drop youre comp by a substantual amount, aparently u can use them with just one head gasket but i dont see how it will seal.
