Any other XR6 owners like to share with me how many km's they get from a tank, city & country driving. Mine seems to suck gas like theres no tomorrow. Is it the car or do I just drive it too hard ?
450 - 500 km (city)
550 - 580 km (country)
I have an AUII XR6HP automatic. You seem to be getting good mileage around town (though I live in Sydney and drive short bumper to bumper trips, and when I'm not bumper to bumper I give it to it), I get somewhere around 350-400km. On the highway (now this is a trip to Melbourne) I get about 680-720km. I used to have an AUI XR6HP and had a full Herrod Stainless exhaust system fitted. Got about 760km after exhaust mods, and the same as my current one before exhaust mods (ie. 680-720km). All my highway driving is done with cruise control, with me doing about 115-120 km/h in 110km/h posted areas.
Just for interest sake my dad has an AUI Falcon Classic. Admittedly he doesn't drive like I do, but he gets over 800km on the highway. Understand though that the standard Falcons have taller diff gears (3.25:1) so they get better mileage.
I have an EF2 XR6 and I got between 400 to 450km on the last time I fully filled the tank. That was city only driving and about 80% normal driving and 20% hard driving. I don't really get to do much highway driving at the moment, but the guy I bought the car off said he got 650 - 700km all driven on the highway.
They like to go through the juice, I went through $110 dollars in just over a week when I first bought the car. I have the consumption down to about $30 - $40 p/w now with sensible driving.
I get anything between 10-15L/100kms in the city and as low as 7-8L/100kms on the highway.

I have a manual EF XR6 and get similar figures without driving it for economy + using the A/C whenever needed, probably about 12.5l/100 k's around town.
Yeah I should have mentioned that - I never drive in economy mode & the aircon is always blowing hard (in summer anyway).
Ive just tanked it up again & flicked over to economy to see if theres much of a difference.
EF1 XR6Wgn (5 speed)
Around town 600 - 650 clicks (I usually fill when the low light comes on - avarage high 500's and trip computer says about 60 clicks to empty)
Haven't had a chance to take her on the open road but I would expect 700 min. The wagons do have a larger tank (75Lt) but I have noticed the economy drops as it comes nearer to service time - I get the injectors serviced every second service (around 20thou).

Hope this helps you out.
See ya!:s6:
As far as i know, falcons from EA onwards have either 3.08, 3.23 and 3.45 from the factory.
The higher the ratio the worse the economy as when your in 5th at 100km/h a nigher ratio will rev higher.
as a guide 3.23 will turn at 1950rpm at 100km/h. While 3.45 will turn around 2200rpm.

Shit, thats amazing economy, i'd have to drive my XR6 with an eggshell under the accelerator to approach that, and the sedan is lighter than a wagon too!!
Interestingly I just had to replace my injectors, proper cleaning of them is hardly worthwhile as a new set (supposedly recon but they ended up all brand new) cost me about $180, hardly made any difference to economy, the old set had 2 injectors that where virtually stuffed.
Heya,
I get about 350 - 400 k's in my EF driving normally (which is not really easy) or if im taking it easy ive gotten about 500 - 550 TOPS in economy etc etc...
That is with a bigger bore + cam though... Whats fuel economy anyway.
