Today while fiddlng with the cam timng...I put it all together..Started it and all I heard was wizzing sound and turned it off immediately.Opened the rocker cover only to find my timing chain was broken!!!!
I only kicked it over 1 second and turned it straight off//Iwas being cautious..Hopefully its just the chain .

I did not hear any large bangs!!!But just the hain coming off.Ichecked all of the valve springs and all appear to be fully closed.Hopefully i have not hit any valves.
I have a feeling a socket which wenty missing ended up in there..

I had a mate who drove a calibra V6 from werribee to The city (about 40 kays) without a timing belt....

One $7000 imported opel V6 engine later its ok.........

I am the optimist...Ah stuff it...Iwas having some fun wth it and I think the drill bit allen key type bit fell in ...I think thats what done it!!!And I had had finally learnt how to do the cam timing properly...I had it spot on.!!My cam timing was out dramatically..retarded badly.Iwas looking forward to take it for a drive as It was advanced a good amount ..I turned the engine over by hand and no valves contacted so I know the timing was not to blame..I bet you it was that dam bit..lucky I stopped it in that split second.Ialways start my car and leave my hand on the ignition key in case something is wrong...Hopefully the damage is limited to the chain .I do beleive that if that is the only problem I am laughing.The power in the cam was coming far to late and once it is fixed it will be a force to be reckoned with .But unusually I am not even pissed off...Cars can be fixed ..my accident damaged shoulder cannot..s0..stuff it its just a car..

How is that possible? The engine won't run with nothing to turn the camshafts. Perhaps it jumped a couple of teeth on the belt.

Just talked to ford and they said its not likely to have damaged a valve for that short period...phew..

LOL..... Sorry, but it was just a matter of time.....

Anyway, for your sake, I hope Ford is right, as it takes bugger all to bend valves.
Tha cam just needs to stop at the wrong spot and it only takes a second for a piston to whack a couple valves.
