hey guys how are you all?

i have an ea that i am currently stripping. its auto.

how hard would it be to drop in a manual 4.0 i6, something relativly new, so in turn it can be twin terbed?

i want to be able to register it, although 95% of its use will be track.

is it much of a pin to change from auto to manual? i am only asking because i already have the car, its str8, and it has cost me nothing (complete with sick 3.9)

If you know what you're doing, anything can be done.

T5's are out there, just have to be patient and look. As for changing the 3.9 to a 4.0 donk... It "should" bolt in... You could look at buying the new DOHC from ford/wreckers and try that. You may run into some height concerns though. But I'm sure someone out there has done it...

cool man, dohc idea has really got me thinkin eh...

as far as engine things are concered, i know very little about anything, just about nething else i can do my self, but i have some friendly mechanics that would be able to help me out

BA XR6 Turbo motor... should drop straight in.

I'm waiting until I win the lotto so I can do the conversion myself. Will give you a guesstimated 1/4 Mile time of about 12 seconds in an EA before mods.

im thinking start with a norwal 182 barra, and work the turbo setup myself,savn all the turbo upgraden issues etc etc, now just to source a barra 182...

Let me know how ya go with sourcing a BA engine I was seriously thinking about dropping one in my ED falcon but now have sought of turned towards JMM gear and turbo'n the 4.0l that's in it seen it is still fine . But if you get prices and any other info on it i'd love to hear about it.

If your up to it try using one of the supra engines, you will have to fabricate engine mounts, but the engine will already be turbo'd and the engines can handle alot more power.
7M-GTE 3L single turbo 176 fwkw about 2500 in a front cut with the 5spd
1JZ-GTE 2.5l twin turbo 206 fwkw about 4500 with the 5spd
2JZ-GTE 206kw(more like 235-245) for 7k with a six speed.
The cost of buying the ford engine and setting it up to handle the power of being turbo'd will probably cost as much if not more than these. either way the car will also need eng certs as well.

why pay $2000 more for twin turbo 2.5l with 206fwkw over a single turbo with 176fwkw... u could spend the extra 2g on a larger turbo and get like 300 odd kw ATW outta the single setup :D btw how hard would this be to have changed into an EF coz i am seriously thinking about doing it. what effects would it have on ECU etc. would an RB25DET or RB26DETT fit into a falcon ?

The twin turbo 1jz has stronger guts, and the head gasket / bolts are alot more reliable. the 7M-GTE engines have plenty of potential when these two problems are overcome through o-ringing the head/block and putting in a copper head gasket. Also the 1jz has vvt-i from about 95 or 96 onwards.

so 1jz-gte is the way to go what about RB25DET how would you go lining one of them up or would 1jz be easier ?
