Hi
Is there any way to tell the difference between a 3.9L and 4L six cylinder Motors
Without pulling them apart.
All so is the ea mpfi fuel injector system same as a ed one
As my ea one seems identical to my next door neighbors ed.
Thank in advance with any help on these questions.

basicaly the same motor... if its mpfi u can be pretty sure its a 4.0l but you wont notice any difference anyways

Not necessarily. The 4.0 motor was released with the EB II. EA and EB I Falcons were offered with MPEFI 3.9 motors from the start. Therefore there are plenty of MPEFI 3.9 motors around.

Also, the 3.9MPEFI motor put out 139kw while the early 4.0MPEFI motors put out 147kw.

As far as I know, the MPEFI system on them is the same EEC-IV system. Although there are probably minor calibration differences between them.

Yes but can you tell which motor 4L and which is 3.9L by engine number etc?

if the motor hasnt been replaced and its an EA, it will be a 3.9L

The motor was replaced. It was one owner car when i bought it but the clutch fan stopped spining on the old fellow that owned it and he drove the car till it stopped. motor wise. Then the motor was replace

get the engine no and ring up/email ford and they should be able to tell you what car it came out of
