can anyone help me. got a problem with a 1984 ford falcon XF. The instrument Cluster speedometer and odometer do not work. have replaced the cluster since with one that I know works. how ever the speedo and odometer dont work still. can anyone help me. please let me know. the cluster is a GL model Cluster.

it might be the speedo sensor whick i think is located on the left side of the gearbox

these dashes are CRAP.. i've got an XF and it came with a GL cluster which had a broken trip and odometer. i then got another one from the wreckers which worked fine. Then i upgraded (or so i thought) to a Spack cluster but the tacho was sticky and the LCD bits just turned off for no reason at random times. Then i got a ZL cluster which is full LCD (star wars dash as my mate calls it) and it just goes spastic at least once a day. It just lights up random bars everywhere. the solution is to punch it really hard and it actually works :D good thing is that it doesnt loose its memory. i'm just gonna live with it until i get my 351 XD with the good tacho + speedo cluster that they come with, no LCD crap there :D

Probably the speedo transducer which is in the side of the gearbox with the speedo gear attached to it.Is a small box with a cpl of wires running from it to a plug about 10 inches from it. Either get one from a wrecker or better a newie from Ford or another auto parts supplier. Safer when installing it to disconnect the negative lead of the battery as they are easy to short out otherwise

Thanks for your help. the prob has been fixed by replacing the speedo sender unit. anyone got a s pac cluster for sale? let me know as i wanna update from the GL cluster
