Does anyone Know if there is a V8 forged piston set that may be a fit for the ohc I6, i mean the pin height might be different and the skirt might need machining back but the pin height if higher would lower compression and help in turbo application, even if bore size is bigger might be able to bore out. This post is just thinking out loud but the V8 kits or hemi I6 kits are so much cheaper, failing this does anyone know who makes forged pistons for the I6 at a decent price
but having said that.... they make a nice hyperutectic one. a mate of mine has them in his ea turbo and that thing is very reliable and rattles off 540hp at the wheels.
i am runnin them in my ea turbo as well and i am expecting 600rwhp
they can handle a lot of crap and provided the car is tuned well you shouldnt have troubles at all.
a forged piston will handle about a second more detonation then a hyperutectic.
you can still melt a forged piston easy enuf as well.
acl full rebuild kits cost around 980 bucks rrp. and thats the race series ones too (hyperuretics).
if you do go the acl kit get it with acl race series ea pistons (11.8cc bowl) and get them 20 tho oversize. then grab a 4.0lt block and have the block honed out 3 thou to fit the ea pistons. as the 4 ly block is 17 tho over the 3.9 block.
and you want to keep as much thickness in the bore walls as posible. as they already have a thin casting on them.
That would be for a turbo setup, using the EA dish (13cc) over the 5cc EF/L one
