I am not certain but I recon my head gasket isnt the best its not causing any trouble but I think I should put a new one in I got quoted $250 to get it all done then I was told I should get the head redone or something and new quote of $650 to send the head away and do all this stuff
should they have to do all this when they havent even looked at the head yet???
with the right manuals would I be able to put on a new gasket myself and save all this laybour money??

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Why do you suspect head gasket problems.?

cause its sorta sucked in from the front and I think theres oil leaking out of it and I think my idle is being thrown around by it cause when I take my foot off the accelerator revs drop right down and even stall and it happens when I'm idling sometimes

when you say the front of it do ou mean the very front? If so, that is your timing cover seal, not the head gasket. The first 2 inches of your head seal against the top of the timing cover, not the block

the front of the head I dont think its the timing cover it sits right under the head

Bertis - interesting symptoms there mate - I suffer the same with my I6 EL =\ I'm looking at getting the head gasket done on mine too. Let me know if you find out what it is =D

lol I am hoping its the head gasket I dont want to get another one and the head machined and all this expensive shit and find out its some other tiny little problem

hmm the problem seems to come and go but I cant work out whats throwing my idle around sometimes when I take my foot off the accelerator I'll put a picture of the front of the head in here

see at the front how theres a bit pushed out and a little bit pushed in I not sure if its a big problem or not but somethings stuffing my idle up and I was told could be the head gasket

That's the rocker cover gasket mate. New Ford one (rubber 'u' shaped) costs about $30-40, less for an aftermarket one (usually cork) but would require sealant (Ford one doesn't).
