Help!!

I just changed the cam in my I6 today and are having problems. I changed the standard cam with a Stage 2 crow cam> Othe rmods that i have done in the past few weeks are a k&n filter and full 2.5"" exhaust with pacemaker extractors. My car is also a manual. When ive started the car back up it is now idiling at 1600 with the cluch out and 1200 with the clutch in.

Have tryed the idle screw but nothing happens. All the connections are still plugged in and im pretty sure that i didnt change the timing bec i zip tied the timing chain to the cam sproket.

Does anyone else have any suggestions??

Re: Help!!

If its not backfiring and it starts easily theres nothing wrong with the camshaft timing.

Umm.... not sure about how the ECU is gonna regard the new camshaft but since its only EEC-IV it should be ok...

High idle can be caused by a vacuum leak either on or around the manifold. Check all your vacuum lines are plugged in and the manifold gasket is ok...

Oh and are you sure that your accelerator cable isnt too tight?? If it is then it will hold up the throttle no matter what the idle screw is set to.

Hope this helps.

Re: Help!!

I had the same problem with my car, it has something to do with the clutch switch under the pedal. When its in gear and clutch out it brings the revs up a tad to stop the jerkies from happening when in gear. I cant remember what it was but the gearbox has a sensor in it to let the computer know its in gear then the revs come up. Must be getting confused and thinking that its still in gear.
Just a thought.
Good luck.
