Well it seems my engine is starting to go downhill, I am putting about 2l of oil in every fortnight(1000km's). The weird thing is that my mechanic said there was oil in my intake when he was replacing my coil/plugs and leads.
How does that much oil get in the intake? I am concerned because my plugs were black when they were replaced, and the new ones wont last long if it stays like this.
Also I may be burning oil but im not getting any blue smoke out the back - would this have anything to do with me running gas?
My car's done 240,000 km's and i reckon i'm burning oil. I used 4 litres in 1 and a half months.. i'm not blowing smoke, but i'm sure the rings are worn just enough to let a little bit of oil through when i drive her hard or boot it. My plugs are ok to tell you the truth, but i can see she'll need a bottom end rebuild soon.. forged pistons anyone? :)
thats what i was going to say - the PCV valve in the rocker cover could be stuffed, letting the engine suck in oil out of the rocker cover, and through the engine
what car is it? an EB? try replacing the valve, its the one at the front of the rocker cover with the runnber pipe coming out and going down into the intake.

The car is an XG ute (ED engine) and is due for a service, do you thing I should get a compression test done while it is there?
