HELP wiring XD temp sender into dash - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

OK i use dtop aheva an exteral guage but thta broke so i bought a proper XD sender unit no i ahve un pluged the dash how would i wire it back in to the dash so far i have

hoked 1 wire from sender unit to dash just sitting in there which conecter/wire do i hook this up 2? also is there any other wires i need to hooke up as teh guage had a few wires but i presume this would for been the return and light?

I take it you've attached the sender unit, and need to know which wire in the big circle plug (or the little one) on the instrument cluster board to plug it into, right? That's easy just follow the circuit tracks from the gauge. One would be earth/ground, and the other would go straight to the sender unit i think? I could have it completely wrong, but my cars a whole 10 metres away from me and I gotta go to work now!

AFAIK, there are only two connections to the gauge on the cluster, and you wouldn't need the wires from the external gauge anymore. Could be wrong but...

yea i have it figured out now, i ha dto open up dash and just follow the wires there ar 3 pins on the cluster gurage power,ground, and one form the sender BTW it i steh red and whit wir eu hook it up 2 lol.
the external guage was MESS he has used swiched 12v from behing the head unit, the light came from on of the lighst in teh guage and there were wires every were.
all i need to now is silder teh conections as so tha i get teh correct reading lol, i just spliced into the small concter and adde dteh extra wire (llike a t section) shoud i cut the wire as i don't know were teh other end of red white wire is it still might be connect to a faulty send some were else and i don't want to put them in to parral as that wiould effect the circut. after driveing to work 2day (5km) the guage red like 1/10-1/5 jack all really i would her to get hot quickly

Nothing works better than splicing when you don't know where the wire goes. Drawing too much power won't be a problem, and if there is something on the other end, at least it will still work. My engine takes about 1-3 minutes to warm up in high 20 degree heat, and it'll sit just below halfway, around 2/3.
