XA Fairmont

Gday ppl.......I just bourght a rare (at least i think its rare cos i never seen em before) adaptor plater to fit a 2 barrel Holley to a pre x flow Ford six. I got it off ebay for $25.44. I won the bid buy 44 cents. Anyway i no i asked this before but will i get any gain foem a 2 barrel Holley?

been looking at the same auction. my mates got one though and he's just gonna give me his cause he ain't need it for anything. the power gains will be small unless you have an exuast system that can cope with the extra intake. should get good gains through that. let me know how much you pick up the holley for. forgot to ask what holley you are putting on. got a mate with a 250 pre cross flow mild cam small amount of head work 2.25 exuast and he had a holley 350 on it and changed it to a 500. had alot more power and was worth the minimal gains in petrol. so really depends on what your engine runnning but i would start with the exuast first if you haven't already.

Ive already got extractors and a 2 1/4 inch system. I was thinking of getting a 350 Holley. What do you think?

yeah the 350 should be enough. there is an internet site i found a few weeks ago and it had a couple different set ups with carbs. one was a test with a 500. i'll try and find it now. he said with all the combos he still found the 500 to be the best. not sure if he mentioned what other mods he had though. positive that a 350 will be enough with your exuast. i'm interested to see how you go though. doing the same thing in about 5 weeks. keep me posted

I put a 350 holley on my XD with one of those adapters, it made a nice change in the way it ran, more responsive, pulled a bit better in the revs and also improved my fuel economy, later added a cam, machined the adapter plate for improved flow and the car had a rather impressive power for a crossflow.

I dont believe the adapter plates are rare as i walk into a autobarn store and purchased mine, i have seen a rather nice manifold for the crossflow, it was a cain 4 barrel manifold, we put a 450 holley on it, and it was with a cam, exhaust a rather impressive performer.

If you get the Set up right (Mainly Jet sizes & Fuel bowl level) a 350 Holley should be a good investment on ya XA.

I contacted Hume Pefrormance and they reckin a 350 Holley with an electric choke would be the best. The 1 barrel Stromeberg on the XA at the moment has a manual choke and when i put my foot down sometimes the choke pops out which ins't good. Has anyone had this happend before?

I just recived the adaptor plate in the mail today. It's a LYNX one so i'm pritty happy with it. Now just gotta get the Holley.
