how much vacuum

hi
I trying to trouble shoot my 86 xf ghia with a rough idle, seeing that block vacuum is a biggy how much vacuum would a well sorted engine have at say the dip stick hole with the engine running. there is fair few areas that a leak could be in. I heard the crank rear seal could be a likely spot.
Could someone out there, give me an idea of a good block vac reading in inches of mercury
regards greg
