I am looking to start doing a little head work to my XF EFI and was advised to use an XE EFI head as they were an open chamber design. How do i go about identifying one of these as i was also told they have no casting numbers. what shape is the chambers around the valves? anything else i should look for?

any help greatly appreciated.

I have both sitting under my house at the moment, i can take some digi pics if you want to compare. I think all the XF EFI heads were had C2 casted in them not sure with the XE heads.

Mines got E2 cast into it.

C2 was another of the casting numbers...early XE EFI heads had no casting number on them

Don't the EFI Heads have notches in the Inlet ports so the injectors fit in port?

a fully closed chamber head has C1 marked on it a semi closed has c2 marked on it and the normal one has nothing marked on it. fully closed give you the best performance.. thats what i run on my race car

thanks for all your input...now, i was told to use an open chamber head as once they've had all the porting and polishing done that they'll be the best ones to get power from...was i misinformed? (i was told this info from Brendan Mock as this is what he used when he did an engine for an XF panelvan) he said to use the XE EFI head along with the XF valves.
