ive replaced my lifters in my ea, and they still make a horrible bashing sound in the morning when i start the car. The whole reason i replaced them was to get rid of that noise and it didnt work. I used after market lifter was that my problem? are geniune ones better? Iam using shell helix 15w 40 oil should i go thinner and i was gunna try this magnatec stuff whats it like , will it solve the problem?

Mine does that in the morning and I also use Helix Plus 15W/50 (blue) but after 2 secs it settles and idles pretty quiet (for a clutch fan setup). Are you sure its the lifters and not the timing chain? I wouldn't go thinner in oil unless you want a 10W/40 or something but a 50 weight oil is generally preferred for engines with a few kays on em. You won't hear any definate response of being good or bad with Magnatec - some say it holds all the crap up around the engine which causes excessive wear whilst others say it is good and stops lifter noise. Magnatec is 10W/40 IIRC.

It's really your call as to the oil.
