Gday all,

my xh ute has the ed style long runner manifold and an au head with a crow stage 2 (for an au) what effect does the long runner manifold have on the engine and is there anything i can do (apart from a bbm) to counteract any negative effects it has on an engine. how do ed xr6's get their power with this manifold???? the pacemakers and cam has done a bit but is there any way i can get more power for not too much cash????

Have you got the full exaust system opened up?
Or just extractors?
That will make a difference, and a freer breathing filter.

The manifold on your XH is not that long.
When I put the BBM manifold on my XH I did the measurments and the standard manifold is the same length as the short runners on the BBM. The long runners on the BBM were around twice as long.

Dyno runs proved it by showing no improvement in the top end, only the bottom end when converted to BBM.

Soxx, got some figures there? Be interesting to see how much of an improvement, I reckon 10-20 KW.

It gave around 20kw increase between 2500rpm and 3500rpm, but nothing above 4000rpm.

remove the throttle body, get a 3" mandrel bent HPC coated metal pipe bent up to go from where the TB used to be, up to the washer bottle and then back down to the airbox, and put the TB on the end of that - this would give you about 1000m of intake length (well, maybe a little less than that) which should give you more torque down the bottom.

or (and probably cheaper) you could fit the BBM and just run it in long runner mode permanently - you wont need the EF computer then - and you should get lots more torque, as Soxx posted above. send tibbo a PM and see if he can get a hold of one for you for a decent price.
