how ya doin guys just put a set of 16 inch EL fairmont mags on my ED falcon just wondering if the speedo would under read or over read. im guessing under read. any ideas what amount
i don't think the speedo would change much with the different alloy
it would just change if you were to get different tyre size completely, like it would be a cm bigger from the centre of the tyre to the outer rin of it
Try this site - it will tell you the percentage difference in the tyre size, rolling diameter etc. As long as it's within 5% difference, you will be OK. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
In Sydney we have speedo check markers on our motorways.
You press the trip reset when you hit the first marker then when you get to the first k/m marker have a look at your trip meter if it's less or more than 1km then you know it is out. then just try and remember your maths from school and work out how much it is out.
i checked My old blokes truck speedo out for every 1km his trip meter was giving him 800metre reading so it's roughly 20% out. so when he's doing 80km/h on the speedo it's more like 100km/h , 62on speedo is roughly 80km/h. hope this helps
