hey guys...just wondering what the max speed u've all got in ur I6 Fords..and under what conditions... heres mine...
175km/h @ 4000rpm
4th gear is 1:1 and diff is 2.77:1
Car: 1985 LPG XF Falcon 4-spd 250 I6
Tyres: bald retreads (205x15")
Weather: dry
Location: some road near Wallaroo, South Australia (deserted wasteland) on sealed road

Took my EB to 200, got there easy as piss. Was at around 5200rpm in 3rd gear still (auto)...Don't ask me why its not speed limited. But I'm not going to do it again and risk and almighty tailshaft explosion LOL.

ok, when i went to QLD raceway in december last year i got the EB up to Very Fast lol.
the needle went entirely off the speedo, touched the black plastic at the bottom of the dash, and still got another hundred or more rpm on the tacho before i decided i was running out of road - it got there fairly fast too, i wish i have a longer track!!!

Well, I've had my old EB V8 up over 220kph. The XR6 hasnt had a chance to legally strech its legs to the maximum but has been at 195kph before I ran out of track. I'd say its good for well over 220kph too.
might be a thread for cops but meh...there no evidence...
bald retreads are fine...there's no tread to fly off..and they're like slicks so in the dry (like i was) its better than tyres with tread...i'm definately not doing it again tho....140km/h is my max now...

In my old XW 221 3spd colum, stock as a rock apart from extractor's,
105-110 mph, the needle was moving that much between the two I couldn't get an acurate speed, but that's not bad for the above mentioned.
