Mock cams

Has anyone fitted a Mock cam? Did it make much difference and has it caused any problems (idle hunting, stalling, overheating, etc) I was looking at a Dev 3.

Thanks!

Hi Rextus,
I installed a dev3hl package on a ef fairmont, and the difference was remarkable, i have far more power down low, and infact the power all the way through the rev range is smooth and constant, the car is much more driveable. It is happy to just plod around town at low rpms, but on the highway up hills etc it pulls like a tram, I too was a little nervous about the upgrade, i did not want a luppy idle, or stalling as it is a family car, but I could not be happier with the final result, the guys at Jim Mock motorsport in my eyes have really produced a after market perfomance package that works well and are very down to earth to deal with.

HI sick-ef-ii
Here is a link that you will find interesting including Mr Mocks contact details

http://www.autospeed.com/A_1274/page1.html

He talks about 140Kw at the wheels with the Dev3, I have not dynoed my car however, all I know is that feels great to drive, and will break traction quite easy, even with LSD and a auto.

I think the total cost was about $2000 for me it was well worth it.

Hey there...
Yes i am the one with the dev3! ..
My cam (dev4 cam) idle's perfectly and performs well.. Take off is nothing special (its like stock) but it pulls very hard past 3grand!
Don't count out other products.. like crow cam's... base your decision on price.
my car is 130rwkw, but soon to get a manual box =)

good luck
ChuBBz

Ok thanks for that guys...So Chubbz u reckon crow cams arent any good?
I would be happy with 140@da wheels...Only thing is that i have exhaust and extractors/filter. So i guess it would be less than $2000. The only thing i need is a camshaft/adjustable timing gear/spark plugs and better leads. Does anyone know how much that can cost?
I guess it would be better to call Jim Mock but im asking you guys to see what kind of prices are laying around melbourne.
Also have ur revs increased.(as u guys know ef/el tacho only goes to 6) does it go past 6.000RPM...do you guys have an aftermarket tacho or....??
Thanks again for the info!

There is no need to increase the revs of an I6, unless you have extensively the modified extractors, have custom plenum chamber or increased the engine capacity (bore or stroke).

Do you know that the maximum power output is at around 5200rpm and falls away after this rather quickly. So revving the engine harder is not going to gain you any more power.
