More power for BA I6

Does anyone know if it would be possible to get about 250 kw out of a BA182 engine? Im assuming you would need to rebuild the engine and use high performance internals. Also anyone know where I could get this kind of thing done in Vic?

Re: More power for BA I6

Im sure that it is possible given the EA-AU OHC sixes have been able to get figures near this.

Re: More power for BA I6

Rebuild a BA I6 already... ouch!

Seriously mate, I reckon with a good exhaust and induction system, the 200kw mark would be easy.
Then you just gotta find someone to set up a cam for you with some nice lift, tune the ECU.. walla.

I doubt the bottom end would need to be touched.

Simon.

Re: More power for BA I6

yeah..as above - you would just need to find some big cams from somewhere and get them fitted, get a proper exhaust (prob 3" all the way i reckon) do something about the intake (nice big HPC coated intake pipe with a pod and CAI) and get the computer tuned to suit - might have to raise the rev limit about 500rpm or so but thats definatly not going to kill anything.

and a 3.9 LSD to get it up and going!

Re: More power for BA I6

I'm assuming the BA still runs the BW diff??, but in IRS. If this is the case, I don't think there is much else that can be done diff wise, besides the obvious Detroit locker, or spool. If you look after the diff, you should have no problems. By this, I mean that if the clutches start slipping, get them shimmed up ASAP, and make sure you always run the right oil.

I'm not sure about people who can provide the products, but Herrod, Jim Mock, Crow Cams, Wade Cams are a good place to start.

Re: More power for BA I6

Well from memory, and I could be wrong, the BA I6 produces 185 kW already, doesn't it?
Therefore I agree with the other two :) 200 should be easily attainable with a decent exhaust, then cam/chip it which should get you the other 50 kW.....maybe even a small blower might be in order?
