hey,i have an EA s pack,5 speed,3.23 lsd,wade 1004 cam,xtractors,2 1/2 zorst and am working on another car,another EA mines too slow and shitty!
Does any body know which cam is the next stage up?? i know my current cam is stage 2 and largest before changing valve springs. Do wade do cam and spring packages or do i need to get crow and how much different will a stage 3 cam be? i will also be getting a vernier cam gear,reco 5 speed and 3.7:1 lsd! any recomendations for a chip supplier and how beneficial will this be? Ive heard fitting thermos increases kw's is this true and if so by how much? At least thermo's dont sound like a huge vacuum cleaner lol! I plan on cleaning (and matching better) the intake and zorst ports of the head myself,will smoothing and matching increase kw's? im happy with my current zorst so i will be using it and i plan to make a custom air intake with a pod in an ef air box with some extra induction added through the inner guard and down to the front bumper. AND... does anybody have any ideas of prices of any of these thanks!

there are 3 different grinds of the 1004 cam (with 110,112, and 114 lsa's). You probably have the 1004-112, so you could give the 110 a shot. The idle quality will be poorer with the cam, and I dont know how much difference you will notice but it wont require new valve springs.

Another cam that might interest you is the crow cam used in the saloon cars. It is a slightly bigger cam than the 1004 but you can probably get away with it on stock springs. The saloon cars make up to 160rwkw with these cams as well (with after marked engine management).

thanks any idea about the next cam that does require valve springs as i want a fairly large cam?

you may run into coil bind if your not carfull and bigger is not always better

Here are a few of the bigger cams around.

Wade 1521a
Lift: 524, Duration@50: 217, Rev range 2500-5500 (IMO), 114 LSA

Crow 546
Lift: 525 Duration@50 233, Rev range:3000-6000rpm, 110 LSA

Surecam OZY2835
Lift: 507I/512E, Duration@50: 240I/226E, Rev range: 3000-6000rpm, 110LSA

Or JMM dev4/dev5 (we are not worthy of the specifications)

The 1521a is about the biggest for a daily driver IMO (I have one). The crow and surecams listed above are *BIG!* cams (small lsa & long duration) and are probably not suited to street applications unless you are nucking futs.

Edit: Oh, and youll probably want a chip to run the 1521a, and will need one for the others (maybe even aftermarket computers).

away from cams any advise on anything else i want to do?
