I've got an ED XR6 auto and just recently it has developed a problem. If revved at idle the revs stay at 1500 and take around 10 seconds to come back to idle. I have checked it and the butterfly does shut straight away. Also when not running and with the throttle fully depressed the butterfly does not open to all the way (horizontal) with full cable adjustment, is this normal?

Mate id be cetting myself a new throttle cable.
I had a similar problem , changed the cable and the problem was fixed.

Yeah it was still going alright before but it wasn't quite getting full throttle I'm guessin about 85% max. Much better now though, goes better than i thought cos it's been in the shed since i bought it (new ef bottom end, full respray) and have only taken it out twice.

Over time the inside of the throttle cable starts to break down and causes friction.
Which makes teh cable harder to move.

Yeah that and the fact that it was stretched too far even when fully adjusted.
