guys i just got my diff built up from diff technics. 3.45:1 lsd fully rebuilt brand spanka ready for running in for $1100,

my question now is have i put the speedo out. the old ratio was 3.23:1 and the new 1 is 3.45:1 would i have put the speedo out?

If you have an EF then your speedo is out by about 5%.

It reads 100kmh your going only 95kmh really. you hit the speed limiter at 180kmh and its really only going 171kmh.

You need to get a new speedo drive gear to fix it. less than $10 from Ford and 10 minutes to fit.

You have probably got a light green 21 tooth gear so if you buy a grey 22 tooth gear all will be back to normal. Well almost. If its an auto it will now hold the gears 5% longer before changing up but that will be good if you like to rev it a bit.

YOu can get drive gears from Ford for about $15.
Go for an XR6 gear.

Shouldn't it be 23 tooth black? I know that's what I've got in mine, unless the T5 is different.

the 3.45 is grey IIRC, thats whats in mine and it's pretty accurate far as i can tell

Do the maths like this and try and get closest to 1 as being exactly corrected

current ratio divided by new ratio times new gear teeth divided by current gear teeth.

Your EL for example 3.23/3.45X22/21=0.98 that means speedo still reads 2% fast. This is OK better fast than slow for radar.

My wagon 3.23/3.73X23/20=0.996 speedo reads 0.4% fast OK.

All i did was buy the next one down fromwhat is was sposed to be, try it , if i didnt work i got the next one down.

Yep yoru right, the one in teh car is a 22 tooth grey, and i have a spare 22 and a green 21.
