hey guys,

my EA 3.9 mpi has a blown head gasket, after looking around the best price i can seem to get is around the $800 mark

i rang around some places for soem more quotes and i rang one place who said they didnt do repairs but installed new engines

i asked how much for an EA and they said they dont do the 3.9's anymroe because of head gasket issues, instead they could install an EB 4.0 with 6 months (or 25000km) warranty for $1200

ia this any good or should i be looking elsewhere??

its prob not a bad price, but check if that includes them replacing hoses, water pumps, radiator flush all the above.... should be a bit cheaped, id pay that much for an el motor fitted but for an eb 4.0 its a lil steap unless there doing all that other stuff...

is it a reco engine ??? if so its a good price

gday mate, nah its not a reco'd engine

the guy i spoke to crapped on about how they are very fussy with the cars they choose and do compression tests and "although we are a bit dear we make up for it in quality", is this all just a load of BS or what do u reckon?

for 1200 u should be able to get an EL installes not just the EB ...

i installed one into an EF for 600 ... :D

ok, so i went to the place today and just had to ask about an xr6 engine

they say 1350, just for the engine, thats without xr6 computer and without BBM???
its an xh xr6 engine, i asked about keeping the BBM, if he was to install the engine, so i could have a dig at installin the BBM myself a bit later on - which he said he would throw in.

then i asked about a standard el engine without BBM and el computer - and its gonna be 850 for the engine, plus 475 for the install? with 6 months warranty

so wat do ya reckon guys??
