New LSD for my ute?!?!

hey,

I have a 5speed 99' longreach ute and want a new LSD for it...

Ive been told either a LSD 3.45 or 3.9 Would be great to get and help with my acceleration.

Being a ute im worried that anything too big will just want to sit there and spin as they are very light on the rear?!?! Would i be correct in saying this or because both are rears would be spinning, the grip wont change much???

Anybody know which diff would be better? and roughly wat $$$ im looking at?

Thanx.

Jade :D

Re: New LSD for my ute?!?!

I have a 3.5 in mine it is a good compromise between acceleration and highway cruising.

Re: New LSD for my ute?!?!

Costing mine out is a little complicated because it is a 9" diff.
I took it out of the XD ute I retired almost a year ago.
Same things apply though, I guess.
Mine had very tightly packed clutches because the XD had a warmed over 351 Cleveland.
Grip was actually very good considering utes are relatively light.

It's now quite tired and due for a rebuild.
When working properly, compared to a single spinner, it is a very big difference though.

Re: New LSD for my ute?!?!

once you get a LSD you will never be happy with an open diff, trust me.

and you should be fine - just watch out how much throttle you use around corners in the wet though!

Re: New LSD for my ute?!?!

My XF has LSD with 3.55 ratio i think, gets totally sideways in the wet, but let the power off, and it snaps back in line. Love it! Goot for 2 wheel burnouts too...

XF died, Now It's a 6-cyl Cortina!
Rear ended 3 times, 4 close calls.
All while I was stationary, still counting the idiots..
