Well after having a closer look (listen) to the engine I realised the ticking sound is not my new tappets after all... it's actually the injectors! They seem to get louder as the engine heats up as well, have other people witnessed this phenomenon? This is on a el futura.

Now the question is, do loud injectors imply sick injectors? My idle is a little rough and Im not sure if it is due to the new cam (although it's a very mild cam) or now maybe the injectors?

Yeh injectors are noisy- just how they are. If you put ur finger on them with the engine ticking over you can feel them fire! NRMA guy showed us that when me n my mate got stranded...
