....so im putting together my spare engine...the question is do i go with the wade 1004 cam or the 1521A cam....i need springs for the 1521a and an ecu reprogramming/new ecu
1004 needs nothing

so what are ppls thoughts?
is the performance difference worth the extra cost or is it a case of diminishing returns?

any comments welcome

g'day, u should be able to run the 1521A cam without ecu mods using the simple ICS mod discussed in this thread

Just be careful though... The problem with this mod is that when the car is cold, it uses the ISC to keep it going, so when the car is cold it will barely (if at all) idle.

It will be terrific when the car is warm, though...

If you have an XR6 ECU the 1521a will run ok.

Derb the XR6, ECU can handle the requirements of a big cam.
Mine runs fine with a Dev 5, and went ok with the 1521a, which i tried and have sold.

no probs, take some pics of the plate and how its mounted if u go ahead with it please to give us all a better idea of whats involved exactly, havent started on my ea project car so im still weighing up my options including this mod

Wouldnt be the nicest car to drive, especially without a chip. the 1521a has the same bottom end as the 1004-110 (which is not recommended for autos).
