Well guys my father is scaring me ....... can you have a second midlife crisis at 64 ??????

He has just recently put on a sports exauhst system and now thats not enough ...... Hes now talking of getting a Pod filter ....

Can I get all the pros & cons for doing this to a XH ute

wouldnt bother with the pod, everyone with the ute seems to use the XH snorkel anyway and I dont believe their are any performace increases with the pod, it will just make a cool induction sound.

If he has to cut a hole at the bottom of the airbox and plumb some 3inch pipe down in to the wheel arch so the pod at least gets some direct cold air.

performance wise i dont think you get too much out of it. I am still using the standard air box, and i am running 14.8 second qtrs... i would only fit a pod to my car if it was done properly. i have to agree though, the induction noise is great. i had one on for about a month, but i took it off as i didnt have it setup correctly.

i may look into it again though...

I have a pod on my AU2. I placed it in the gap where the airbox was. It got really hot so I installed the snorkel back on which leads down to the box, which runs straight to the pod and wow. My pod stays very cold all the time. Weather I give the car a flogging or stuck in peak hour traffic it gets lots of cold air. Can't feel performance but sounds good.

Tell your old man I know where he's at.. but instead of a pod filter he should be buying some trendy gear.. deerstalker hat, white shoes, gold chains.. all that..

As long as his car sits low enough, has 19" ricey-spinner wheels and makes enough noise he'll be kool..
Maybe a doof doof sound system would be a good investment to annoy hell out of people at the lights with a vibrating bootlid..

But if he's really intent on pulling the chicks, flick the Falcon and get a stock standard BMW convertible... with maybe a full underbody neon kit to complete the effect..
