How much horsepower does the 3.9L and the 4.0L have?

Also how much of lb-ft of Torque does the two different engines have? I'm just asking for normal spec's.

Does EA's have more torque... I think so cos fords tend to seem better at pulling trailers than holden does.

The EA throttle body injected makes 120 kw@4250rpm

the multi point EA makes 139 kw@4250rpm

tourqe is 311ntm and 338ntm respectivly

i THINK the EB 4ltr makes 148kw? ,not SURE.

THE eb 5Lltr MPI v8 makes 166 kw@4600 rpm

with the multi point 3.9 its 139kw 338nm (249 lb/ft)
the 4.0l its 148kw 348nm (256 lb/ft)
the EF 4.0l is 157kw 357nm (263 lb/ft)

generaly the ford 6's have more torque than the holden 6's

YES! It also has something to do with the engine formation, a straight of the same cylinders and roughly same capacity and age (just incase u want to compare a 1950 motor with a 2000) will produce more torque then ur standard V (maybe even if its supercharged too!), it would be the same if an I8 existed, it would have more torque then ur V8, I4's have more torque then ur V4's.

Mercides AMG (the M3 rival one) supercharged their V6 to get it even close to the M3's I6, guess which motor is still better, and which car is faster.

One more thing, is it true that Ford are thinking of a V6 for the Falcon after the AV, fair enough the Aussie 6 is abit old, almost 40 years, and it is a good motor, i think they should get rid of it becuase its showing its age, but why cant they design a new I6? I also hear they're going to front wheel drive, if i wanted a rice blower with front wheel drive i would buy one, is any of these rumours true?

I doubt those rumours are true. A front wheel drive Falcon would not sell.

As for a V6 engine, I would have nothing against that. It would enable lower weight, better crash safety performance, more adventurous styling (due to more compact dimensions), better handling, and so on. Anyone who says that V engines can't have torque might like to drive a new Commodore first.

Why would ford want to go to the V6? I see absolutely nothing wrong with the Inline version. They are alot easier to work on than the 6.

Because, like Holden, they might find that it is cheaper to use a proven engine from an American model rather than keep fighting in vain to keep the ageing inline six competitive against cars like the Avalon, not to mention ever-increasing emissions standards and the expectations of export markets.

Torque is what is needed for pullling caravans and trailers etc... only 6 cylinders or over can pull those heavy loads.

No one has told me how many horsepower the stock EA has?

I wanted to compare it against the Hemi/Mopar 528 ci big block V8 which has 610 horsepower and 650lb/ft of torque! (Which again is almost double power as a MPI Injected Falcon)

If you are able to convert the kW and Nm info already given to BHP and lb-ft, then your problem will be solved.

The 3.9 MPI would be around 180 BHP.

I'd just like to mention that the 3.9 MPI motor still has more torque than new V6 cars out today. This includes commodore, magna, camry, avalon etc...
It may not feel like it when driving due to the stupid gearing we all know but on paper its true. You will have a lot of trouble finding an N/A 6 cylinder 3.9 litres or under with 338Nm or more.
