Problem with Water Pump on AUII XR6

Gidday all,

I suddenly noticed a small pool of water after two days of my car doing nothing. My car has only done 26000 odd k's and purchased new, may 2000. Anyway, booked the car in to get it fixed, all under warranty and speaking to the ford tech, mentioned that it was a common occurance to have the water pump fail in these models and has replaced a lot of them.

Has any one else had the same problem.

Cheers

Usually it's just the O Ring but i've heard that the water pump can go.

Hope it doesn't happen to mine. Touch's wood. :dead: :dead:

"Green" heater pipe O ring

Its very uncommon for the water pump to fail completely on these models. Usually it is the heater pipe o ring that fails.
If yours is replaced, make sure the dealer replaces it with a new "green" o ring. This is an upgraded material which is more durable.

I had mine done under warranty a month ago with the same symptoms.

They took two goes to fix it, but I'm still satisfied with the service as it hasn't been a problem since and they fully detailed my car while it was in.

99 Falcon AU Classic, 35,000km same problem. Had to take it to the dealer twice, the first time the problem didn't show up and they "said" they pressure tested the cooling system and found no fault. Second time they said they replaced the washer and it is a common problem. Assholes why the F&%^ didn't they do this the first time and save me the hassele - dealers!

On another note........

Has abyboty noticed their speedo going crazy at the lights? Mine was going from 0 - 60 - 80 - 0 etc while at the lights??? Dealer said it was a electrical problem and earthed the car again.
