How can i tell if the bearings are rooted in a fan belt pulley?
Theres this high pitched squealing, but the belts seem to be in good nick & not very loose.
Take the belt off and spin the pulley by hand. It should be silent.
Which model car, which belt (three belts or one?) and when does it squeal?
With the alternator belt 'not very lose', is lose
Should've mentioned what car it was first up. Its an EA with the 3 belts.
It squeals upwards from about 1300rpm, mostly when the engine gets to normal operating temp.
My air conditioning belt was very loose, i tightened it, made a difference briefly but the noise soon came back. So i might take the compressor off the engine as well as the belt altogether. That should fix my problem.
Now this is an enlightening post that adds to the original posters question some weeks back and the body of opinions, NOT. And a somewhat strange sig quote to boot! What a cess pool the net is at times.
