I have a 2004 BA XR6 Ute with a full Herrods system and was thinking of buying a system & fitting a cold air induction system myself. My Question is once fitted do I have to disconect the battery for 1 hour or so to reset the ECU so that it resets itself for the increased air flow and so on or will the ECU recalibrate itself as I drive along and gets more km under its belt. Any info would be great I also intend to fit a K & N filtter around the same time depending on the money situation.
The CAI will not really need any changes to the ecu. The ecu won't learn anything from being switched on and off. Hopefully the IAT sensor in the MAP will be able to read the lower temp and adjust the mixture accordingly.
These don't make that much of a differnece unless the lighter wallet makes you go faster.
I think with the BA, eventually the standard ECU will re-learn back to normal factory settings even though there is more air present.
The only way you could benifit from extra CAI would be to install a piggyback computer and tune accordingly if what I said first is correct.
Go ahead but you wont get any more airflow or power. I have seen a dude with a N/A BA XR6 put a intake snorkel from an XR6 Turbo. It is heaps bigger than the N/A one. Don't waste your money buying a K&N filter either, all you are getting for the money is a pretty sticker.
