Rattle Rattle!

Hey all when i stand in front of my EL I6 when the engine is on, i can hear a faint intermittent rattle? Its not loud or anything but its best described as a one second rattle followed by a one second pause etc. It sound like some metal part of the engine is lose or something?

But its not noticable if im in the car or not near the front of it.

Anyone know what it could be?

thanks

Re: Rattle Rattle!

Is it more noticeable under load?
Is it a rattle, or more of a knock?

Sounds like something loose, yes. Probably worth double-checking everything on the outside of the motor first?

Re: Rattle Rattle!

nah you cant hear it when under load. Its not the lifters, its just a rattle. Doesnt sound anything mechanical just like a piece of metal vibrating against anoterh piece of metal.

i'll take a closer look and see if i can pin point the problem.
