Rear main seal

How big of a job is it to change a rear main seal on a EF? Got a leak and I think its about time I pull my finger out and fix it... :p anyone done it before to give me some pointers? besides plenty of grog? hehehe

in a word BIG. to change it it would require pulling the motor out removing the sump, change seal and gasket and refiting the engine. could be done in a day with a few mates but could also take forever with a few mates, depends on the knowledge people have and how motivated they are. i find that half the time it takes twice as long to do something when you get help.

If they are the same as the 5.0L you can do it insitu, just drop the tranny, & leave the sump connected

After looking at the Workshop manual they are the same, Leave ya motor in mate its really not that bigger deal..
