basically, i'm after someone who specialises in ford's I6 engines, like jim mock, but local.

i'm looking at spending about $4000-4500 on the engine soon, and i want to get as much power as possible. turbo/supercharger is not an option at this stage.

so i'm open to suggestions! btw, i'm not going to do anything myself. i just want to drive in, hand over the keys and money and pick up the car when it's done.

I used ToySport in Penrith to install my blower & they did a good job.

I know EB ON NOS recently used Col Parry automotive in Penrith & got some very good results.

We fitted the cam etc at home..The dyno was only used for reference purposes..No tuning...

nah, i'm not but it's still easier to insure a stock (looking) six than a bog stock eight.

plus, i want a hot six.

adviliax mortus I agree with you. They aren't going to get any franchised dealers as of yet. BUt i guess in the future they will.
Its like DOUBLE DOH!!!! That was my thoughs too.. Jim Mock but tooo far away. But I guess the power gain is around the same and cheaper than getting her BLOWN. But they will be busy in 4 weeks time (Opening). I spoke to him and he said that there are heaps of Sydney people calling him about the mods. The best thing is that the car is in the shop from 0830 to 1730.
Did you get the MPEG files?? The AU doing a burn out?

Will

Don't know of any ford specialist tho.
fair enough, but i want someone who knows what they're doing, ie. someone who specialises in fords. i'm not very enthused by the idea of being promised 180rwkw after the mods, and only coming up with 165 or whatever. it looks like this jim fella knows exactly what he's doing.

i just got off the phone to herrod's in melbourne. they reckon you can't get more than 130-135kw at the wheels from a NA six!!! i find that EXTREMELY hard to believe. basically, he suggested i just do the exhaust and air intake, and the stock ford cam should stay! he also made a few references (slagged off) jim mock, so in my eyes, herrod has just lost all credibility.

So who's got a N/A six that does produce higher than 135kw??, it would be interesting to hear what has been done to achieve these figures.
Jim Mock Motorsport has a test car (EF 5speed) with apparently 175 RWKW, Autospeed(who love bagging out Fords) were skeptical before they drove it but wernt so afterwards.

Nick what exactly did Herrod say about Jim Mock? Was he just saying 'BS you cant get that much Hp out of a N/A six'?? Or what?

I recall that the Queensland Tickford Owners club president has an AU XR6 that is supposed to be putting out 239fwkw N/A. I think this was through some prototype testing Ford was doing a little while back.

Does anyone from the QLD club have any more info on this?

yup, i remember seeing the car at the tickford day. that should be doing something like 150-160 at the wheels!

martin

he was just saying that there's some jim mock guy who claims he can get 175rwkw from a ford six, but anyone who tells me they can get more than 130-135kw is lying. i mean, he's just shot himself in the foot, because mark did his exhaust at herrods. to be honest, i'm shocked that such a statement could come from these guys...

Damn, i always thought you could get more by changing your stock camshaft. Don't tell me car manufacturers are coming out with the best performing camshafts now to try and push the aftermarket guys out!!!! heheheh I'm sure you would get gains by changing it. Check this out http://www.crowcams.com.au/templates/Catalogue-Falcon6EA-AU-OHC.shtml

Funny, all work done by herrods...

I'm in the same boat here i'm trying to look for a Inline 6 tuner as well, having a good base already i want someone to tell me the facts not b/s.

Perhaps Herrods reccomends running the stock cam for the XR6 models as there is no upgrade cam yet.

Apparently reading about the crow cam for the EA-EF they mentioned the idle will be rough, but i'd like to know how rough is rough.
A few people have said that the EEC-V EF onwards might not like the cam hence engine will not run at opimum performance, bad fuel consumption etc.
