solid lifters for EA to AU. Anyone done it?

I've always had good results with solid lifters in the good old 202 XU1 which reved to 7500 RPM. Has anyone tried coverting to solid lifters on a Ford EA/AU I6 or is it would it be a waste of time.

The lash adjusters the ohc ford uses are located in the rocker arm so are a completely different to the older style xu1 motor.
There would not be enough metal at the position on the rockers where the manual adjuster would have to thread in, and if you increase the amount at this point it would add too much weight at a point you should be lightening to make a reliable big reving motor. There is a oil restricter in the top of the block so lifter hydraulicking(I need my spellcheck) (pump up) should not be an issue
