I have an AU11 Fairlane with the I6 VCT engine. The engine has had intermitent poor idle since new. After the recent 45k service (with new spark plugs) I have noticed a marked deterioration in idle quality. I had a specialist Dyno tuner look at the car and he informed me that incorrect spark plugs had been fitted. After discussion with the local ford dealer they agreed. Discussion on the topic revealed a "grey" area as one Ford person agreed that they had similar trouble with correct spark plugs for this model. The spark plugs now fitted have a longer extended nose.
The handbook says AGS 23CC. The plugs previously fitted were Denso W16EXR-U.
Can anyone provide advice a sto the correct plugs??
Thanks Taximan...that is exactly what the Dynotuning place has done ie fitted ZGR6B-11 plugs. There has been an improvement, but the engine still has an intermittent idle problem particularly after a run at highway speed. I will continue to search for an answer
