Steering pressure switch

The pressure switch has been leaking and a search of the forum says there is a danger of fire when the oil leaks onto the exhaust. Maybe a common problem.
One fix was to block the oil from entering the switch. I have had it shorted for some time with no problems. Who needs it.
The manual says to remove the switch - difficult? Looks like 9/16? or 14mm? shortened spanner- and then plug the hole to stop the fluid leak, but what to plug it with? The manual sometimes states the obvious but gives no helpful information. .
There is an O ring so expect a round rod would be OK. Have to stop the leak until some kind of seal is found and soldered into the switch.
What size should the stop leak plug be?

Fixed it by sealing the hole in the switch with a 1/8 round head screw about 1 inch long. Used a good spring washer under the nut and used some gasket sealer.
Bought some spanners at a bargain store and they proved to be high quality when the 14mm one was cut shorter. Think it would be easier to use multigrips or a pipe wrench. Sawed off the hexagon end and then a 9/16 socket spanner can be used to put it back.
Did not think it was leaking when the switch was removed, so did not plug it, but it must have leaked a few CCs per minute by the puddle under the car. Have the saw and sealing bits ready.
The leak can happen suddenly. Noticed a few drips which could have been coolant. Then a couple of weeks later, lots over the steering boot. Leaks when driving so may not be noticed.

Why not fit a new switch, they're only $40!

Same or more difficult, extra cost and does not do much, if anything.
Something else to break down. One input the computer does not need. May use a little less fuel.
