Hi,

Can someone tell me why a stock BA falcon (Auto) is not as quick as an EL XR6 (Auto)? I thought that with 182kw compared to 164kw that it would be quicker. I was recently proven wrong. :(

Is the BA heaps heavier or is it the EL's gear ratio's that can get it moving off the mark quicker 0-100km/h?

With 182kw and a heap more nm's the potential is there for the stock BA Falcon to be quicker than the EL XR6. What could reasonably done to a stock BA to get it moving quicker than an EL XR6 without spending thousands?

I found the same thing in my EL Fairmont Ghia racing my bosses BA Futura and the weight is within 40 kg i think, both are autos i had him all the way and my top end killed his

Im not sure why though

I also much prefered the build quality of my car to the ba's (at least the futuras anyway)

oh, ive got a el xr 6 manual now with cai and full exhaust, so you ba drivers should watch out lol

Well, your fairmont ghia has a 3.45 LSD. Whereas the BA has an open wheeler 3.08 with a shockingly tall first gear.

You dont need mods on the manual EL XR6 to flog a N/A BA I6. I take `em to town all the time :)

i though it was only a open wheeler :-)

the ba has a nice rush of power up higher when you plant the boot. I thought this would be notacable in road speed but it seems not, when i can pull away from them

What diff ratios do the BA N/A xr6 have

The xr6 has a 3.45 LSD and the XR8 a 3.23 LSD im pretty sure.

XR6 N/A has optional LSD though, and i thought the BA's didnt come with the 3.08 ratio at all. Im 90% sure they all either have 3.23 or 3.45

Im pretty sure the bog stock no brand falcons (XT) had a 3.08 open wheeler or of similar gear ratio.

hey my xr is cobalt blue too, it was resprayed just before i got it, same colour though it really is one of the nicer colours
