Stumped by engine.

The VIN plate has the S for the engine, so it's a 221. 3 speed column shift but all the trinkets that apparently came off the car say it's a 3.6 litre which was an option. (1970 XW). The inlet manifold is part of the head as well. Does this make sense as I don't have a clue.
There are little badges that came off the boot saying Falcon 600? I thought it was a 500. What's going on?

Re: Stumped by engine.

The 221 is a 3.6 litre engine, thats what those badges are.200 is 3.0?L, 250 is 4.1L The falcon 600 ones are new to me though. Maybe someone made them to confuse people.

Re: Stumped by engine.

Does the 600 badge look the same style as the Falcon badge,it must be the wrong badge from another car because there were never any 600's only 500,and yes you have the 221(3.6) the onlt other six that was available in the XW was the 188,but very rare most were 221's.

well...

This is the badge. Is it from another Ford? Probably. Fits the holes in the boot though.(600.jpg)

Or maybe its a Falcon special undercover version by Ian Fleming. (009.jpg)

Re: Stumped by engine.

Well I'll be damned, there exactly the same as the one's they should be, the 500 one's, an exact copy only 600 not 500,I think we need to delve into this to see were they have come from, maybe an american fairlane or something,I'll do some homework and see what I can find, were about's on the car were they.

They were actually stuffed in a box with all the other brightwork. The square 3.6 seems to fit the front wing. I have the F.A.L.C.O.N to go across the boot and underneath, to the right are two holes. The 600 badge fits those holes all too well.? So, if it was from this car then I would say they came from the boot.

Re: Stumped by engine.

Normally the 500's have 3 Falcon 500 badge's on externally, one on the boot on the driver's side and the other two on the rear gaurd's under the crease, those badge's look identical to the 500 one's, they should be a little fatter at the bottom of the badge to the top and have the blacked out bit in the middle off the lettering, those are the original 3.6 litre badge's off the XW's that went on the front fender's just before the front door's,cheer's.

Ok.

Visited a local who breaks Falcons as his day job! I said "What's this off?" and he said it's off the XW and apparently Ford made it into a 600 simply by adding a bit of chrome here or there. He said it may have been a small piece along the bottom of the doors or along the tops of the door below the window but 600 is correct. I said I thought they were all 500 but he said some were 600?!?

The only badge I have is the 600 one. There are holes along the rear wing for badges but none in the box.

They all had the chrome sill mould under the door's and the Fairmont's and GT's had the chrome mould on the door's,near the glass, but I've never heard off the 600, have you contacted the XW/Y owner's club or Ford direct, I'm posative myself that Ford never released a 600 model in there line up,cheer's.
