Well it seems age is taking its toll on my poor ol' girl. I've noticed lately that when I put her in reverse and she rolls back out the driveway, the engine's idle goes a bit funny, almost limp, until I give it a bit. I thought it was a one off kind of thing, but then tonight I started her up cold, put her in drive and she did the same thing, almost got to the point where I thought it would stall if I didn't give it some gas. Where should I start looking for problems?
All these bloody problems!
Cheers.

Sounds like the computer has lost it's settings for idle etc. I'll bet it stumbles and complains with the aircon on too. Mine's done it recently too and it somehow lost it's settings without the battery being disconnected this time.
It'll come good eventually but mine takes a couple of weeks before it really starts to improve.
Haven't had the battery disconnected for a while (about a month or two). Can't really tell with air con because that is cactus too (won't get off the demister setting %$#!). Although, when I used to turn it on, I could feel the engine do something...

XRated, check the small rubber vacuum line at the rear of the inlet manifold. Mine had become hard and brittle and thus was leaking or not maintaining enough vacuum to change the demister/vent settings. A squirt of WD40 has fixed it for now.
Inlet manifold on passenger side of car, exhaust manifold on drivers side of car. (EA-EL I6 RHD Falcons etc etc).
ISC (idle speed controller) is the little doodad with the wires connected to it bolted on above the throttle body at the front of the inlet manifold, just after the rubber ducting from the airbox. It needs to be working (they can jam up if dirty) to maintain idle.
Nothing st00pid about asking questions XRated. If you don't ask you won't learn.
Okay... Now, is it where I have shown? Is the actual part closer to the number "1" or "2" in the picture? I did notice this area was bloody dirty just yesterday. Will I need to take anything out or apart to clean the ISC properly? Can an amateur like myself do it?
I dunno where the vacuum line is you're talking about either!
Thanks.
