I have just installed a temp gauge in my 1987 XF carb which has a thermo fan instead of that awfull clutch fan. What is the optimal temp for the thermo fan to engage?
At the moment its set at 80 degrees.

If you got A/C make sure you connect the thermo fan to the A/C or you will destroy the compressor

Yes, the thermo is conected to the A/C aswell. ive been running this setup for about a year now with no problems, but just wondering if i should set the thermo to start at a hotter temp.

The thermo on an XD I know of is set to 80, if that's any help.

what brand / type of thermo fan do you use on the XF, as I'm getting sick of the noise mine's making

the best thermo fans to use are off the au they fit with miner mods work great and easy to get

I used a davies craig fan, model DC31 from memory. All i did was make some brackets and bolted the fan into the existing plastic shroud.
