ok I've just gotten home and turned off my car (EL fairmont ghia) and noticed that the thermo fans are still running. they hav been running for about 15 - 20 min now.. is this normal or what??

Not normal that I know of, sounds like a relay has jammed on.

the temp has dropped all the way down to cold.

anytips on how to stop it?? they hav been runnin for an hour

well quickest way the connectoin plug should be top right hand side of the fans/radiator as you face the car, once unplugged and they stop, see if plugged back they behave or start up, then you have to trouble shoot.

Chances are your battery will be about dead by now. You can just pull the fuse for the thermos (next to the battery)

Interesting situation - heard of a car getting too hot - but too cold?!

I would have thought the temp sensors would have kicked in, but if theyre still going then i would agree with Dellboy in that relays are probably your problem.

I'd do what Gunns said, unplug them, leave it for a while, then plug them back in and see if it happens again.

I'd say relays are 100% to blame. With the ignition off the ECU won't be powered, hence the line to the relays won't be powered.
