Been looking into a new motor for an xf ute..

Thought triple webers would be good fun.. i guess they would be bitches to calibrate.. anyone had some experince with em?

How would the power out be compared to a 450cfm 4bbl holley?

They are a bitch to set up (But it depends on your mechanical ability) and if you dont get it 100% right it will be the biggest
headache and hole in your pocket you will ever see.
I ran quad webers for 2 years on my mustang(very thirsty, lots of torque,awsome sound)
I did not set mine up so I cant say how difficult it was but well worth the money.
Expensive to set up and expensive to tune to suit your engine
Have you done any pricing on the carbs and manifold yet?

I agree with 347 and it kinda depends on your definition of fun.

Best power and throttle response this side of injection, and even then you'd probably need individual throttle bodies to match a trio of webers.

You'd better know what your doing tuning wise or find someone who does and I'm guessing that sort of know how would be getting hard to find.

I had a set of sidedraught 45mm DCOE carbs on a hot 192 cubed Holden six in a LJ Torana about 20 years ago. Along with the huge cam, headwork and pipes, it went hard!

The webers were ultimately replaced with first a 465cfm (4BBL) then a 350cfm (2BBL) Holley in search of lower maintenance day-to-day use.

I just did a price check, $850 each webber plus $320 for the manifold. Then another $220 for the linkage kit.

Compare that to $400 for a 450 holley, $320 for the intake, and $50 for linkages.

I'll be goin the holley!!

A lot of blokes with Hemi motors(Valiant) used to replace the Webers with Dellorto's - supposed to be easier to tune and go just as well. Have you considered the XF injection. I had a Cortina a while back with a 465 Holley, then tried injection and it was quite a bit better, and used less fuel.

Where abouts are you?

I had tripples on my valiant, and given a chance would go back to them anyday.

I used a mob in melbourne that had them on, tuned and running in less than a day!

i agree Minge. i ran a set of twins on my old Gemmie, they were the ducks nuts... A guy at Springwood tuned them for me in a few hours.. Not a DIY set-up but well worth it
