Hi,

I have an 98 EL which apparantly has the Au head installed. Obviously the Cam is also an Au cam.

I have spoken to wade and they say that they have had problems getting power out of the Au motor. Has any one put a wade cam into an AU 6cyl. Or Late EL 6CYL.

Please let me know as I am thinking about doing this mod in the near future.

From what I gather it's only thev VCT AU heads that have problems?

The std AU motor is easy to get power out of with a good cam, I'm not sure why wade would say otherwise. The VCT heads are a bugger but a stock AU I6 can be really cranked up.

Really comes down to what you want to do with it.
If it's for the drags change your diff first then go the cam, if it's for the road, well, how much power do you want and what are you willing to pay?

Stage 2 will give you good output without the major need of Electronic/Chip changes.

I was fairly sure the EL hybrid motors had AU Block and EL head. They don't get the AU head studs and that's why they still blow gaskets. Either way cammed AU's go just as hard if not harder than cammed EL's. Stage 3's need chipping or an XR6 computer from what I've been told.

I checked with ford and they gave me the part number for the cam in my car which is an AU cam, so there fore must have an AU head.

I will probably go stage 2 what power gains would I expect to see?

Did you get your cam, if so what one? details please, I'm facing the same problem.
